Cats are people too! At least
they think they are! The house cat is not just a cat,
but is a part of the family. Cats and kittens are considered
pretty easy to take care of but there are really quite a few
things that you need to be aware of. Making sure that your
kitty has all that it needs will ensure that he or she remains
healthy and happy and lives a long life.
Cat Care
Take care of your new cat or kitten by paying attention to
both his physical and mental health. Your kitty will need
regular trips to the vet, nutritious food and lots of tender
loving care. He loves to be petted. Petting him will let him
know that he is loved and he will pay you back with his own
version of loving - lots of purrs!
Cat Health
Pay attention to your cat's health by watching what she eats
(do not over-feed), by playing with her to give her lots of
exercise and by making sure she get the vaccinations that she
needs to prevent feline diseases.
Cat Training
When starting to train a cat, a couple of things you will
want to take in consideration. Learn more about your cat, have
the proper tools to do the training and have lots of
patience.
Cat Breeds
Cats have lived with humans throughout most of civilization.
It has only been in the last hundred years or so that they have
been selected and mated to provide distinct breeds. Many cat
breeds have evolved.
Cat Food
Choosing the right cat food will keep your cat or kitten
alert and active, with a glossy coat, bright eyes and a cool,
moist nose. Feed your cat regularly - small meals spaced
throughout the day - and give him or her a variety of textures
and flavors.
Cat Supplies
You would think that since cats are such independent
creatures that they wouldn't need much in the area of cat
supplies. But, when you think about it, they need more than a
lot of other types of pets. There are cat collars, litter
boxes, cat toys, grooming supplies, cat scratching posts...the
list can go on and on.
